SKYPE Teaching
One of the benefits of video conference tools is teaching and learning. SKYPE is a good and friendly freeware that is widely used for communicating/chatting with friends and colleagues. I use the SKYPE, a free of charge software, not only because I can call and see my daughter during conversation at remote site in Bangkok but also I can teach my students at home. However, the SKYPE program works well only you have a small number of students. Teaching and conferencing among group of students is also limited using SKYPE because of time delay which is a major problem when you need a continuous period of time when you teach. One of my experience at Lyon, France doing my post doctoral research, I had a chance to talk and discuss with students in a seminar room. However, it didn't work well enough because we didn't have smart classroom at that time. In the future, I believe remote teaching and learning will be more effective via smart classroom. Have you ever had experiences using SKYPE or other free or commercial software?
